The Holt High School Robotics Team is embarking on our “Second Year” of competing in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition.
“The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.” |
The FIRST Robotics competition is a multi-national engineering contest in which students, teachers and adult mentors work together as a team over six intense weeks to brainstorm, design, construct and test their robot prior to competition. The robot is then transported to one of 52 regional competitions, where teams will compete in a spirited, no-holds-barred tournament. While competing, team members learn the value of teamwork with each other, as well as teamwork with alliances formed during competitions, gracious professionalism, and experience pride in competing on behalf of their school and community.
